playing for change
video games are amazing interactive tools for learning, having fun, connecting, and exploring. However, what I love most is that a wide variety of skills and interests come together to make a game! I use the free and accessible software Unity because of the strong community of indie developers.
Because videogames are so compelling, investigating a game’s real world impact is essential when developing games. As an educator in part the Games for Change Game Plan program, I am dedicated to using the process of making games and playing them to make the world a better place.
In my game design crash course, we introduce the many career paths people may take to pursue developing games, and practice the necessary skill of collaborating.
If there is already an established interest, I offer intermediate workshops in the following fields as well
Character Design + prototyping
Level Design and prototyping with Unity
UX Design with Unity
intro to programming for games: Javascript, c#
Intro to real time 3D animations
Storytelling in 3D: how game designers tell stories
